The hub approach
Propositions
The Hub for Housing Justice advocates that a justice lens offers an opportunity to transform housing systems through four propositions:
-
Anti-discriminatory housing policy and practice
Tackling inequalities and historical discriminatory legacies by promoting reparatory housing interventions.
-
Radically democratic forms of housing production
Embracing, protecting, supporting and expanding democratic forms of housing production and management.
-
Housing as an infrastructure for more sustainable, caring and fairer cities
Promoting housing as a vital infrastructure for more just and environmentally sustainable cities.
-
Housing policy and practice that broaden imaginations for housing futures
Advancing knowledge production processes that promote more open and diverse visions about where, how, by and for whom housing policies happen.
Housing Justice Provocations
There are four working groups that convene around each of the Hub’s propositions, steered by members of the Hub’s partner organisations.
In the first half of 2025, these working groups facilitated exchanges around each of the propositions to produce the 2025 series of Housing Justice Provocations.
This first set of Provocations is made up of creative and collective documents that reflect the takeaways from these dialogues and the experiences, lessons, and recommendations highlighted throughout the exchanges.
Defining housing justice
Efforts to advance housing justice are linked to global and local struggles around issues such as climate, gender, racial and territorial justice. Learn more about our work co-producing definitions of housing justice:
