COP30 opened concrete spaces for bringing housing to the climate debates and negotiations. Drawing on the COP engagement of partners and allies from the Hub for Housing Justice, we discuss what this opening means in terms of opportunities and risk for advancing a justice-oriented housing agenda.

The Hub promotes anti-discriminatory housing policies, democratic housing production, sustainable and caring urban infrastructure, and innovative visions for future housing.

Around the world, housing injustice is pushing more than two billion people into housing deprivation. The commodification of land and housing results in displacement, eviction and unhealthy living conditions for the poorest people.

In June 2024, the steering group of the Hub for Housing Justice and key allies came together in London to co-develop the hub’s objectives and scope of work.
